Deathly Doodle: Memento

This drawing is the latest deathly doodle done in conjunction with The Order of the Good Death.

This one is far more elaborate than most drawings I do for Sastergoodment or The Order. However, once I started drawing, the idea fascinated me, and I could not stop.

Deathly Doodle: Morgue

This is the latest installment of Deathly Doodles, on which I am collaborating with The Order of the Good Death.

Click here to see Caitlin's seductively creepy essay on the origins of the word "morgue" and how morgues of yesteryear were...umm...different.

If you follow the above link, you can also find out how to submit your own idea for the next Deathly Doodle.

The Metamorphosis (reduced) Part 6

The End.

I hope you have enjoyed this "reduced" story (click here to view all six parts). Depending on people's reception and my inclination, I may give another story a go in the future.

I actually have already printed and folded a few mini-books of this story and I plan on selling them for $1 at some upcoming comic conventions. If you see me, and ask timidly, I just might give you one.

Until then, regular Sastergoodments shall prevail on this blog – which after all, actually makes some sense.

The Metamorphosis (reduced) Part 1

I have decided to try an experiment with Sastergoodment. I am going to attempt reducing Franz Kafka's masterpiece into six serial Sastergoodment drawings. The result will be a mini-comic, or rather, mini-book.

This drawing is Part one of six. Over the course of the next week I will be posting the remaining five drawings.

(Herr Kafka, please forgive me.)

Post Mortem Photography

Here is this week's Deathly Doodle done in collaboration with The Order of the Good Death. Someone suggested "Post Mortem Photography" as a topic and we ran with it.

Click here to see the drawing accompanied by Caitlin's description of post mortem photography (as well some excellent real examples).

If you want to suggest a topic for one of the next Deathly Doodles, just leave a comment after following the link above.

Introducing "Deathly Doodles"

I am very excited to announce my collaboration with Caitlin from "The Order of the Good Death" on a new project entitled, "Deathly Doodles."

This is how it works: people (that means you) can submit words and phrases that pertain to death in some fashion. Caitlin and I will then select one of your suggested topics and I will do a small Sastergoodment drawing illustrating the topic while Caitlin writes a few scholarly paragraphs giving the facts about that topic.

Then we start over again and select a new suggestion from you.

"Dorian Formaldehyde Gray" is the first drawing from this series, and I invite you to view the full post with Caitlin's description here.

This is going to be fun.

2b or not 2b?

I am quite certain that many people have come up with this same exact joke hundreds of times.

Nonetheless, I laughed out loud so hard the other night when this popped into my head that I decided it was still worth drawing.

So, my apologies for any redundancy. Rest assured that it is honest redundancy...or honestly redundant?

I can't solve everything

The pressure is killing me.

In other news, this is the 200th Sastergoodment post! Thank you to those who have stuck around for this long.

Here's to warm bellies, miniscule pain, and 200 more posts.
